Abstract


The Symposium on Service-Oriented Mapping 2012 (SOMAP 2012) took place at the Austrian Federal Office for Metrology and Surveying in Vienna (Bundesamt für Eich- und Vermessungswesen) on November 22 and 23, 2012. This symposium was organized by several Commissions of the International Cartographic Association (ICA): the ICA Commission on Map Production and Geobusiness, the ICA Commission on Atlases, the ICA Commission on Map Projections, the ICA Commission on Maps and the Internet, the ICA Commission on Use and User Issues, the ICA Commission on Open Source Geospatial Technologies and the CIPA Task Group 2 "Open Source in use for the cultural heritage communication process", a part of the International Committee for Architectural Photogrammetry.
